Transferring files from iOS devices can be tricky, but the main annoyance comes when you have to move files from your iOS device to your PC and vice versa. You have to connect your device to your computer, and use iTunes, or simply email the files to your device, which can be a time consuming task, especially if you’re transferring big files.
Thanks to iStick, users can now get rid of the trickier part. It’s a USB storage device, and also features a lightning connector which can be easily used with iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. Using iStick, you can seamlessly transfer your data from your computer to any iOS device, and vice versa. It doesn’t only work as a storage device, users also get the ability to play media files directly from iStick, without copying the files to their iPhone or iPad. Best of all, the device is Apple MFi certified, which means it will work with iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad without any issues.
The USB stick measures 51.6 x 28.6 x 9.1mm, and comes with various storage options, starting from 8GB and goes as high as 128GB. The device is compatible with iPhone 5/5s/5c, iPad (4th Generation), iPad mini, iPad mini with Retina display, iPad Air and iPod touch (5th Generation). The device is capable of handling various file formats, including most of the audio, video and documents.
The project is currently seeking funds on Kickstarter, and have managed to raise $371,000 against their goal of $100,000 with 33 more days to go. This shows how popular and demanding this product is. Pledges start at as low as $1, but to score an early bird unit, users have to pledge for $65 to get a 8GB iStick — which is currently sold out. You can also pledge $79 to get one 8GB iStick, and it can be as high as you want. The product is expected to retail for $129, and is expected to ship to backers in August 2014.
As far as the price tag for other storage options are concerned, users will be able to get their hands on the 16GB version for $169, $199 for the 32GB, $299 for 64GB and $399 for the 128GB once it hits retail. Kickstarter backers can get them at a discounted price, which is 50 percent less.
